Uzima makes clean water affordable, measurable and attainable, utilizing an integrated approach to engage the need for clean water around the world. Uzima was born in 2015 out of a desire to remedy one of the greatest challenges facing the poor in rural Kenya. They have since transformed into a global organization, with a variety of filtration solutions to meet the needs of people around the world.
With a vision to grow their organization, Uzima needed a refreshed brand that represented their mission to increase the accessibility of clean water around the world. The primary issue that needed to be addressed in the rebrand was to acknowledge humanity as the core of its focus and clearly communicate what Uzima brings to the table – clean water. The identity needed to appeal to NGOs, government entities, non-profit organizations, and donors as well as a broader global audience of all backgrounds, ethnicities, languages and education levels. With this in mind, a simple, easily recognizable icon was designed, with a water drop at its centre, and an outer “U” shape with an encompassing and comforting nature to it.
With the new identity designed, the rest of the brand experience expanded from there, with a tapestry of waves filled with water-like patterns hinting at its Kenyan roots resembling overlapping African fabrics and patterns.
